ALBANIA TOUR

A fabulous excursion to the nearby ALBANIA which has opened its borders to tourism very recently. You will get the rare chance to visit an old world that is rapidly transforming, yet still fascinating in many ways. You will reach by boat at SAINT SARANTA, one of the busiest Albanian ports, known during the years of The Second World War as ‘Porto Enda”, named after dictator's Mousolini daughter.

A bus will take you to the Albanian coast, where you will visit the typical Albanian villages EXAMILI and VRINA reaching eventually the place that is mostly worth visiting. The place is called Budrind and it is under the UNESCO'S protection as universal heritage. The very well preserved ruins verify the presence of 4 different civilizations. (Ancient Greek, Hellenistic Period, Roman period and Byzantine period).

Budrind was the ancient Greek “Vouthroto”, place of great military importance at the time. There is full archeological guidance and it is a real experience for all of you who might be interested in old civilizations and history. Upon reaching the top of the hill in BUDRIND lies the the castle of ALI PASA an oddment of the ottoman Empire. There are panoramic views of the Ancient City and the lake nearby. On the way back, always by coach you will have a meal at a pleasant restaurant and the journey will be completed when you will return back to SAINT SARANTA and all the way back to CORFU .
