A traditional profession.
The characteristic element of this profession is the love for the nature.
The region gives honey of an exceptional quality. The flowers from which the bees collect pollen are the flowers of the chestnut tree (20%), spring clover (19-20%), winter and summer savoury (10%) and 40 other types of plants and herbs with health benefits, such as sage and oregano.
The ’smoker’:
An instrument which gives out smoke from the burning of pine needles in order
to disorientate the bees and relax them
when the beehives are opened.
In the winter, each beehive is occupied by approximately 30,000 - 50,000 bees.
In the summer, the bees lay up to 2000 eggs everyday, and their population rises to 100,000 bees per hive.
